Changes to iPad app support

As a previous user of the Gravity Sketch iPad app, we need to let you know about our decision to unlist it from the App Store: this means we have stopped innovating on and maintaining the iPad version of the product.

The iPad app was a crucial first iteration of Gravity Sketch’s creation capabilities, and it’s thanks to users like you that we better understand the role of screen-based versions of the product, and how to take them into the future.

What's Next

The goal is for Gravity Sketch to become truly hardware agnostic, bringing a solution that can work on any device – and we have early prototypes for a device-agnostic screen creation tool; allowing designers to get a few strokes out in the same way they are used to sketching in photoshop:

  • You’d have a few set views: front, side, top view etc.
  • You could then jump into the virtual environment to do more creative 3D exploration
  • You'd have the ability to navigate in 3D from the screen, go into editing modes, and move things spatially from the screen
  • You could collaborate in real-time with other creators and collaborators, all through the same app

However, it will take time and capacity to develop a screen creation experience that can complement the virtual reality toolset. So, to help get there faster, we made the difficult decision to unlist the app.

Read more about this decision.

Continuing to use the app

If you’ve already downloaded the app, this shouldn’t impact your experience. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to support@gravitysketch.com and we will be happy to help.

Thank you for your support, and stay tuned for news on how we plan to take things forward from here! You can keep up to date with the latest product updates and discussions on the Gravity Sketch Discord
