There are three separate options for joining a collab room when on your PC or Mac. This article will break down the differences between these three options, which may be best suited to your individual needs. These different options include:
Screen Collab - launches the room through an application available to download through Landing Pad
Open in Web Browser- Launches the room through the browser
Stream Collab - Utilizes streaming tech to bring the room on screen.
Accessing and Using Screen Collab
Screen Collab is an app that must be downloaded on your Mac or PC prior to launching a room. Screen Collab offers the best image resolution; however, it can be difficult to launch if you are currently working with an IT system that blocks external apps. If you are entering a collab room for the first time, please follow these instructions:
- Double-click on a collab room of your choosing and locate the pop up that appears
- Select the download now option as shown below
- Locate the downloaded file in your browser downloads
- Click on the downloaded file and follow the instructions to download on your Mac or PC
- Go back to the collab room of your choice and select the "Open the Screen Collab app" as shown below
Accessing and Using the Web Browser
You can also use the browser-based version to access a Collab Room. This is the easiest way to access a room however it has the lowest resolution of all the available options. If you are entering a collab room for the first time, please follow these instructions:
- Double-click on a collab room of your choosing and locate the pop up that appears
- Select the Web Collab Option and wait for your room to launch
Accessing and Using Stream Collab (Enterprise Only)
For enterprise clients you have the ability to use Stream Collab to launch your rooms. Stream Collab has better resolution and less lag when compared to Web Collab and does not require you to download an app, however it may take the initial user up to 2 minutes to load a room. Once the room is in use, all subsequent users will be able to join with no wait time. To enter a room via Stream Collab please follow these instructions:
- Double-click on a collab room of your choosing and locate the pop up that appears. Please note - if you don't see this pop up, please contact your Customer Service Manager and request that they turn on the Stream Collab Feature on the backend.
- Select the Open with Stream Collab option and wait up to 2 minutes for your room to launch.
